Search Engine Optimization and Google

Google is, by far, the most popular search engine in the net today. In fact, it is so popular that it has become almost a dictionary word that means search or to search. Even if you have no idea how Google works, you must have heard the term countless of times at some point or another. Many people, internet savvies, especially, use the term google synonymously with search.

From time to time, you may have heard people say “google it”, instead of saying “search it”. Quite a lot of Search Engine Optimization companies, too, are largely Google-based. Many of them, too, are vigilant in order to find out what Google’s next step would likely be. While it is almost impossible for these Search Engine Optimization companies to get ahead of Google, they would not want to be left behind either.

You give Google quality links to sites with great content, and in turn, it shows the links to browsers, and you get hits. This results to greater website traffic and revenues — both for Google and you!

These capabilities of Google lure many webmasters into attempting to uncover or decode its algorithm. By knowing exactly how Google ranks websites, these webmasters feel that they can be able to make the necessary improvements to their websites so that they can earn a good rank with Google. They try various optimization techniques, as well as experiment with keywords, key phrases, meta tags, alt tags, and so on and so forth, instead of coming up with relevant content.

Unfortunately, webmasters, in desperation perhaps, concentrate largely on making it to the top of Google’s search page that they begin to lose focus on what is really important. As a consequence, their online business suffers considerably.

Still, you have an option which area you really want to focus on. Are you more concerned of having customers and visitors to your site or are you concerned of simply getting to the top at whatever cost? Either way, you need to have a focus, and when you have already found one, concentrate on it and do not allow your attention to be drawn away from you.

All these features make it all the more worthwhile to obtain a high rank with Google. With Google, what you see is what you get, nothing more, nothing less. It comes as no surprise then that many search engine optimization companies are relying heavily on Google.
